Arkansas: Get Hog Wild!

We made it! We started out on the road Thursday evening and came to our final destination on Sunday evening. Phew! That was a lot of driving, 38 hours to be exact (including bathroom breaks). Today has been pretty chilly and windy, but it is absolutely beautiful here. I can’t wait to see what it looks like in the spring. We’ve already spotted some new birds, like Road Runners near our trailer.

We made a trip to Lowe’s and have spent most the day organizing our stuff and where it should go. We have a lot to get done but hope to plan some fun activities too.

Stockings hung, bought a Christmas tree, and fire is lit, we are set!

Lots of walks

Oklahoma is OK

Ok, I couldn’t help myself, corney jokes are good.

We woke up in Amarillo, Texas this morning all very tired and not used to the 2 hour time change. We’re now in the Central time zone. We were not in Texas for too long since we were at the northern part. It was very beautiful though and boy do they love country music. Luckily, I do too because every station on the radio was country!

Next HWY 40 took us into Oklahoma. What gorgeous country! I was floating while driving along looking at the big rolling clouds above the beautiful straw fields. Each state really does have it’s own unique look and feel.

After 3 1/2 days, we finally reached our destination!! It was dark when we got here, so I don’t have any pics! More tomorrow!

Everything’s bigger in Texas!

We made it to Texas this evening. We’re staying at another Love’s truck stop in Amarillo. We drove for 13 hours today, but now are only 7 hours away from Fayetteville, Arkansas. So close we can taste it! It was extremely cold last night in Arizona, it got down to 13°. Flagstaff was not at all what I had imagined. It’s a lot higher in elevation than I had realized and is in the middle of the Cocoino forest. I thought it was flat and full of cactuses. After leaving Arizona early this morning we cruised right into New Mexico. All of the mountains were so beautiful. It’s interesting to see how other people live, only a few states away from you.

Keith pulls the fifth wheel with Hayden, Molly, Lincoln, and Pumpkin. I follow in my Accord with Hannah and Bear, but coordinate the trip from the car. We did have the dogs in the trailer at the beginning of the trip, but they quickly figured out that the party is in the vehicles. Lol.

I can’t believe tomorrow we’ll be pulling up to our new home. I think it’s so exciting the kids have never even been there. They both have really enjoyed this trip. I’m so looking forward to the new memories we’ll be creating together. It’s been an adventure for us all, even the dogs and cats. The possibilities are endless!!

Love Love’s Stations!

Love’s Gas & Truck Stations

These are all along HWY 40 and they are pretty cool. They are very friendly and clean, some even have dog parks. They allow RVs to spend the night in the back , which is exactly what we did last night. We even filled our propane tank, now we just need to find a place that has water for the trailer. All of the other drivers and truckers at these stops have been so nice. One trucker fell in love with Bear and said he wished he had puppies so he could have a buddy while driving. I don’t blame him. Watching all of these truckers drive long distance, seems like extremely hard work.

Made it to Arizona

We’re in Williams, Arizona this evening at a truck stop. We wanted to drive longer but were concerned about the low temps and ice on the roads. We drove 12 hours today and saw lots of beautiful country. We were on HWY 40 for most of the day except when we had to drive on Route 66 because of an accident on 40. I didn’t mind though because I got to see some really cool old cars and shops. We’ve driven thru all desert and seen some really beautiful Joshua Trees. We’ll be driving by the Grand Canyon tomorrow, I’m not sure if we’ll actually see anything from 40 or if we should take a detour to check it out.

Hannah was very sleepy this morning

First stop of the trip, Tulare

Fired up and ready to go!
Leaving home for our new home 5 states away!
Hannah helping with the water tank
Dogs would really like to know what the heck is going on

We finally made it on the road this evening and drove 5 hours south on 99 in California and decided to call it a night in Tulare. Keith, I, kids, cats and dogs are doing well. We’re looking forward to getting into Arizona tomorrow and seeing some new land. We’ll turn onto 58 tomorrow which turns into 40 which will take us right to Arkansas. So much new and exciting stuff happening in the next few days.
